There was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus, who was a member of the Jewish ruling council. Him and Jesus started to have a spiritual conversation full of questions and answers. Nicodemus knew Jesus was a "teacher who came from God," so he kindly asked: “How can someone be born when they are old?" (Meaning, it's physically impossible for and old person or adult to be literally born again). Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit."
