Yesterday I was asked, "What's your New Years Resolution?" I quickly responded with, "Oh no, I don't have one of those, I have way too much going on right now to even think of one."
After I answered, I started to think, as a child setting a New Years Resolution was fun because I had nothing else better to do; however, as an adult, you should have set goals, responsibilities, and future accomplishments already in tact, New Years or not.
Some people only think of a resolution that will better themselves for the new year such as losing weight, getting better grades, or striving for that promotion, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, why wait until January to "better yourself" when you have all year? Let's be real, you set a resolution to lose 20lbs, you get your self on a great start but by Easter what happens?
It's also to my understanding that certain families partake in traditional activities pertaining New Years Resolutions such as setting them together as a family. That's fine too and a healthy way to teach children loyalty, responsibility, and a great way to help them gain respect for themselves and those around them.
A resolution can mean anything to you depending on which way you decide to view it. To me, it just means more responsibilities and goals that as an adult, I should already have set and ready to conquer. So in the end, how would you define a New Years Resolution?
