No Sweet Challenge Follow Up

So as you all know, one month ago today I accepted the "No Sweet Challenge." After one month, I am proud to say that I made great progress.

The first few weeks were as I expected: simple, flew by, and not really concerned anything about sweets (since I am not a big sweet/dessert eater to begin with). Then, as others around me started to partake in dessert it began to get harder, but I still never budged. However, around the midway point of the challenged around the second or third week of August, I began to realize what I was doing and what I so far already accomplished. With this mindset and that "one won't hurt" voice in my head,  I did give in to a doughnut and a couple days later some ice cream. If it makes it sound any better, I didn't even enjoy it. I just wanted it because at the time being, I knew I couldn't have it.

After those two slip ups, I have to say my urge for sweets and risk of temptation did diminish. I realized that when I started the challenge, I should have played a reverse psychology trick on myself and should have allotted myself one dessert, one day only. If I would have done so, I probably never would have ate the doughnut or went out to ice cream- but I did and I did learn from this challenge.

Through this challenge, I learned that I can make smarter decisions on my own without societies help (In reality, what help are they? Five dollars for a salad and 99 cents for a doughnut). I also learned how to make other good decisions that didn't even involve food. In result of the challenge, I did lose two pounds, felt much more energized and overall, healthier. I don't plan on eating any sweets any time soon but if I do I plan to minimize it to either once a week or once every other week with a side of cardio. Womppp. "Don't sign me up for cardio." -Fat Amy
