So if you have been following my blog, you know that a few of my posts are related to keeping long healthy hair, and I even shared the products that I use for healthy, flowing curls. I have been recently practicing some new tips that I have learned just from reading magazines and really using hair-care-common-sense.
Curly Hair Tips
T-Shirt: Use a t-shirt to dry your hair with rather than a towel. When using a t-shirt to dry or ring out your hair, you'll notice nothing is tugging and pulling on your hair, especially drying ends and causing them to split. Towels tend to cause frizz due the friction being used, especially for us curly heads. So using a t-shirt helps to maintain frizz and natural curls because it does not mess up one's curl pattern like a towel does.
High Pony Tail: After you went all day with natural flowy curls, you don't have to wash your hair again that night just to see the same results the next morning. Just sleep with your hair in a high, lose ponytail and you will wake up with curls you do not have to tend to before heading out.
Sulfate Free Shampoos (or Bar Soap): Sulfate free shampoo will be your bestfriend if you have thick, curly hair. Most shampoos strip you hair of it's natural oils, so if that's the case, not only will you have dry hair, but all you curly heads will have a freaky looking curl pattern. I'm going to be honest, most sulfate free shampoos are expensive, but you can also use regular bar soap. Replacing your shampoo with bar soap gives the same results as sulfate free shampoo would!
Deep condition: I am pretty sure if you are reading this, you most likely deep condition your hair. If not, the phrase simply means leave your conditioner in for at least 3-5 minutes. When washing your hair, apply your conditioner, comb through your hair with a wide toothed comb to even distribute the product, and place a shower cap on your head. Be sure all of your hair is under the cap and allow steam from either the shower or a head dryer do all of the work.
Leave in conditioner: Leave in conditioner has to be your closest friend. It detangles, moisturizes, and conditions all while you go about your day. Also, you can really apply it whenever you would like!
Olive Oil: You can put olive oil directly on your ends, or you can pour some into your conditioner. Oil is the best moisturizer you could have and chances are, it's already in your kitchen!! It also protects against heat!!
