So in June I decided to take (as they call it) the "Completely Natural" challenge. The challenge pretty much consists of finding a proper moisturizer and using no heat at all. Before the challenge, I would usually straighten my hair once a week due to the fact that it's 1) Much more tamable, 2) I could never find the right curling/styling products to compliment my natural curls, and 3) I just didn't want to deal with my natural curls in fear of them drying out. Fortunately, I decided to complete the challenge right after the Organic Root Stimulator, now ORS, created a curling line. I purchased almost the whole line from styling products, moisturizers, and shampoos and conditioners and yes, they worked perfectly. You can get the ORS Curls Unleashed products at CVS, Rite Aid, or Walgreens. For a complete review, see Review of the Curl Defying Products I Use.
As mentioned, the challenge requires a ton of moisturizing and no heat to the hair at all. When I say heat I mean anything from blow dryers to irons will not be plugged in for a while. So when I decided to go natural, I began my research on what vitamins to take and how often to wash and deep condition; things to that nature. Prior to me starting the challenge, I was already taking the vitamin Biotin which is essentially for hair, skin, and nails. Already seeing results from taking one tablet a day (1 tablet = 1000mg), I decided to increase the dosage to 2000mg daily when I began the Completely Natural challenge. The vitamin biotin has gave my nails strength and shine, my skin a healthy glow, and my hair an extra two inches in length, strength, and a healthy shine; and this is just one month into the challenge.
As I continued the challenge, I made sure to:
As I continued the challenge, I made sure to:
- Wash my hair only once a week
- Comb it with a wide tooth comb twice a day
- Moisturize daily
- Watch my diet and drink the recommended amount of water daily
- Use absolutely no heat
- Stop people from touching my hair
With doing this, I received incredible results. I straightened my hair for the first time in three months and found that it grew a total of 5 thick inches, it looks and definitely is stronger and healthier, and breakage and dead ends is to it's lifetime minimum. Even my scalp is healthier and less itchy due to the reduction of heat. In the end I am thrilled that I took this challenge and recommend it to anyone who wants to go natural, for natural results. Through out the challenge, I probably only spent $50 maximum on hair products because the ORS Curls Unleashed line sells their products in great size bottles or containers with great consistency that lasts a while. Matter a fact after three months, I'm still using the exact same bottles of everything; I haven't needed to purchase anymore yet. Now this is not a commercial and I'm not trying to sell you moisturizing products, I'm just sharing with you my experiences, which products I've used and found most effective, and my personal results.
